Do you remember the chair above? Chances are you might scream in protest against it, or want one like you’ve never wanted anything before.
The BBC has a very good site on design eras:
|
1920s
Fantastical glamour
1930s
A choice of looks - clean or exotic
1950s
Think juke boxes and bubblegum
Art deco
Geometric shapes and animal prints
|
Gothic
Heraldic touches, very flamboyant
|
Modernism
Lots of steel and bold primary colours
Shaker
Uncluttered, every piece is functional
Victorian
Plump cushions and excessive ornamentation

First off, thanks to jwinIL14 for the suggestion for today’s question.
Having grown up in the 70s and 80s I can say I do not miss the 70’s fashions. They were much too ….. hmm, I do not know the right word, but they were not for me.
I much more enjoy fashions from the 1920s, like the photo below.
If you’re interested in designs of the 1920’s this page has loads of pictures.
The styles of the 1920s were
- glamorous and sophisticated
- geometric and angular shapes
- chrome, glass, shiny fabrics, mirrors and mirror tiles
- stylised images of aeroplanes, cars, cruise liners and skyscrapers
- nature motifs
- exotic touches from the Orient, Africa and Egypt
So, which design era fits your style? Do you find yourself most attracted to?
