Early voting in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District starts Tuesday, May 30. (That’s today!) The June 20 special election for the House seat vacated by Tom Price, the man Donald Trump chose to help eviscerate American health care, pits Democrat Jon Ossoff against Republican Karen Handel. It’s a candidate endorsed by John Lewis against a candidate whose top resume item is pulling funds for cancer screenings from Planned Parenthood. And it’s a chance—if absolutely everything goes right—for Democrats to win a seat in a district that’s gerrymandered to be deep red, a seat about which a Republican state senator said “These lines were not drawn to get Hank Johnson’s protégé to be my representative.”
But for Ossoff to have a shot at winning, Democrats have to get out and vote—preferably early. Vote today, and tomorrow get your friend or coworker or neighbor to vote. Tomorrow get your friend or coworker or neighbor to vote, and this weekend go out canvassing.
Here's some important information about when and where and how to vote:
Check where to vote before you go. These are not your regular neighborhood polling places. The municipalities only open select sites during the early-voting period. [...]
Use the Secretary of State Office’s personalized online “my voter page” website (www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do) to find more information and confirm your registration status.
Or call your local elections office to find early-voting locations or look for the “advance voting info” link under the elections tab of the Secretary of State Office’s website (www.sos.ga.gov).
Cobb County will have one voting location starting Tuesday and another starting Saturday, June 10. DeKalb County will have five voting locations and Fulton County will have six. June 10 will be the only Saturday for early voting in Cobb and DeKalb, while Fulton will have Saturday voting June 3 and 10. Get full early voting locations and hours here.
You know what you have to do. Don’t wait until June 20 to help get out the vote for Jon Ossoff. Start now.
