A quick one before I start my day in earnest.
According to Politico, Joe Biden attended “the E2 Summit, an annual Romney-hosted donor conference,” this weekend. Why Biden is helping Romney with a donor conference that was “filled with Romney contributors and political allies” is beyond me, but it gets even worse.
During a closed-door appearance with Romney here on Friday evening, Biden said Romney should consider a Senate bid. The remark came during the second day of the E2 Summit, an annual Romney-hosted donor conference. Attendees were gathered to hear a dialogue between the two men, who were on opposite sides of the 2012 election.
Romney, according to two sources present, offered little by way of response other than to smile. The audience — filled with Romney contributors and political allies — applauded in response.
That, right there, is what is wrong with the establishment leadership of the Democratic Party, its willingness to play footsie with the opposition party. Conduct like this can only raise doubts as to the sincerity of so-called Progressives like Joe Biden.
And it gets even more worse, according to CNN’s coverage:
During a private event Friday night in Park City, Biden
called Romney a man of integrity and said he should mount a challenge next year, according to two people in the room.
"By the way, you should run for Senate," one attendee quoted Biden as saying. The comment was quick and off-hand, but the crowd of Romney loyalists appreciated it and applauded.
Can you imagine former VP Dick Cheney encouraging a Democrat to run for Senate? And it is no excuse whatsoever that Utah is a deep red state likely to be won by a Republican. By encouraging Romney to run, Biden is implicitly stating that this would be a good thing for the country. If he believes that, he is surely not a Progressive, nor is he fit to be a leader of a political party.
And it gets even more worser (sic), according to an earlier CNN article:
Romney did not vote for Trump, but nevertheless indicated at the E2 Summit that he's been surprisingly pleased with the administration, saying he now agrees with Trump 70% to 80% of the time.
"We're not as far apart as I feared early on," he said.
So Biden encouraged Romney after Romney said he agrees with Trump “70% to 80% of the time.” Shame on you, Joe Biden.
