The oft referred to opiod epidemic is the result of two primary factors meeting in social cataclysm: an aging US population encountering chronic pain that cries out for treatment and the disastrous War on Drugs which turns those patients into latent felons. Rest assured that lawmakers, lawyers, law enforcement, gun manufacturers, private prisons, and of course drug makers are always happy to cash in on public hysteria:
The goal was to steer doctors toward a specific brand-name drug: Vivitrol. The drug is a monthly shot used to treat alcohol and opioid addiction and one of a handful of FDA-approved treatments for addiction to opioids such as pain relievers, heroin and fentanyl. State Rep. Steve Davisson, the bill's sponsor, says McCaffrey helped write the bill, one of many related to addiction treatment that McCaffrey has worked on since 2015. But there was something important that Davisson and other lawmakers didn't know about him.
State lobbying records show that McCaffrey lobbies for Alkermes, the company that makes Vivitrol.
There is little need for expensive new drugs here and no need whatsoever to threaten, fire and imprison dependent patients. In fact, if we could treat cancer or Alzheimer’s as easily as we can already treat opiate dependence—using cheap meds that have been around for decades—practically the entire world would be united in celebration.
- Here’s the absolutely critical thing to understand about Russian attempts to mess directly with voting machines: they do not have to successfully alter a single vote to achieve their mission. - Clearly a media and/or science conspiracy is afoot when, just a few short years ago, all we heard about from the fake-news lying liberal commie media was about starving people, and now all of the sudden it’s the exact opposite!
