Ossoff lost.
No surprise there. He was a conservative and a DINO. No true liberal was excited about him. And Democrats were lukewarm at best.
You know, in order for Democrats to actually win elections, they have to provide alternative policies that get people excited. That get people to the polls.
Unfortunately Ossoff, like Hillary tried simply to be “less bad” than the opponent. Lots of powerful Democrats think that’s a winning strategy, but it is a proven loser.
Why do I know that the “less bad” strategy is a loser?
Just look at the losses over the last ten years at the national, state and local level.
The losses over the last ten years are so extreme that the rich oligarchs that run the Republican party have enough strength to hold a constitutional convention and really screw this country over.
Back to Ossof:
In order to win he had to do these things:
- Strongly support the idea of Single Payer health coverage
- As an improvement to the existing ACA
- Strongly support an increased minimum wage- and not be afraid to say $15/hour
- Strongly support increased taxes on the rich
- Strongly support a reduced defense budget
- and the redeployment of that money for
- Infrastructure inprovement
- free college education
- research and development
- and other actual investments into the future of the USA
- Strongly reject the oligarchy now in control of the federal and state governments
- And not be afraid to call them out
Ans so on.
But instead we got a mealy mouth wimp afraid to even say how much a minimum wage increase ought to be.
No wonder Democrats didn’t bother to vote for him.
Why bother voting for that same old thing?
