I did it again.
No, not write another silly diary about bad books. As alert readers already know, I repeated yesterday’s triumph on Jeopardy with another late surge and another triumph.
This time I played against two very good players who gave as good as they got. My nearest rival was only about a thousand dollars behind me heading into Final Jeopardy, and I very carefully calculated down to the last penny how much I’d need to beat him if he doubled his winnings….
And, as fate would have it, I turned out to be the only person who remembered that 1962 was the year of the great spy swap between the USA and the USSR, when American pilot Francis Gary Powers was exchanged in Berlin for Soviet Rudolf Abel. I ended up winning with a little over $28,000 for my second day, for a total after two games of $62,201, or enough to bump me up into a higher tax bracket next year.
I think you can see why one of the very, very few people who Knew All about my time on Jeopardy was my friend Beata, who works for H&R Block and does my taxes every year.
Regardless, I am now a two-time champion, showing that yesterday’s win wasn’t as much of a fluke as one might have thought. So tune in tomorrow night to see how I do against fresh opponents, and watch this space for a Saturday night diary I’m calling:
I lost on Jeopardy...or *did* I?
XOXO
