I’ve been away for a while, and it was a sad day when I returned to find that DKos was once again banning people. I thought that they had learned their lesson from a previous banning episode. Since there was apparently no explanation given for the bannings, I can’t comment as to their appropriateness. I do think, however, that DKos, as a supposedly progressive enterprise, has an obligation to operate transparently. This includes explaining to people in a transparent fashion why the extreme measure of banning is being applied to them.
I have been getting repeated e-mails from DKos asking for financial support. I am hereby placing DKos on notice that I will not provide one penny to an organization that operates in a non-transparent and high-handed manner. Nor will I provide tacit support by participating in discussions as long as this behavior continues.
Trust me, money and eyeballs talk and DKos listens. It’s time to take a stand and hold DKos accountable! There is a whole wide world outside of DKos. You can live without DKos, I doubt that DKos could survive for long without us. Take a break from DKos like I did and try reddit, or start a hobby, or volunteer, or read some good books. The list of alternative and fulfilling activities is endless. Send DKos a message they can’t ignore. If leaving DKos, even temporarily, is unthinkable, then perhaps it’s finally time to step away for a while.
WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO TAKE A BREAK FROM DKOS?

I want to clarify that my suggestion is intended as a temporary action to get management’s attention, hopefully resulting in a satisfactory resolution of the controversy. If that does not happen, then it is clearly up to each individual as to what course to follow. I realize that some individuals have a great deal invested in DKos and may view things differently. Thanks for the lively discussion.
