In one of his first acts as the new Governor of Louisiana, Democrat John Bel Edwards expanded Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of Louisianans. This helped families live better lives and in many cases saved lives.
Now the Governor is telling it like it is. Republicans just hate when we mention that people will die without health care. The blunt truth hurts and exposes the hypocrisy of the Republican Party.
The truth is under the Republicans health care plan people will die. Americans will face financial hardship, that will lead to bankruptcy. They will have to choose between food and their medicine. Elderly in nursing homes will be tossed to the curb. Children with disabilities will be without Medicaid, etc, etc. These are the facts.
John Bel Edwards blunt talk is uncomfortable to those wanting to give tax cuts to the 400 highest income households, at the expense of 22M Americans. That’s only because Republicans want those tax cuts. It’s not because they care about the lives of ordinary Americans. They feign outrage, but want those tax cuts.
Thank you for your blunt assessment Governor! Keep on telling the truth.

The Democratic Governors Association held a conference Wednesday with governors of two red states that expanded Medicaid -- John Bel Edwards of Louisiana and Steve Bullock of Montana -- to discuss the impact the GOP health-care legislation would have on their states, per NBC’s Rebecca Choate. “People will die. It’s just a fact,” Bel Edwards said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re from a red state or a blue state,” he added. “It’s whether you’ve seen the benefits of Medicaid in your state and you know that it’s working.”
