While dumbster was throwing his usual temper tantrums, a 5 year-old boy helped feed the homeless (video) at a shelter near me (one which I donate to when able.)
Monday was a special night for the 147 who came to the shelter for dinner.
"Chicken parmesan, a Cesar salad, broccoli, and vanilla ice cream," said Kieran Trent, the Torres Shelter’s resident young chef.

"Huge success, thank you so much to that young man, it created so much excitement among the guests," said Bill Slack, supervisor at the shelter.
And they let him know with a standing ovation.
Torres homeless shelter is one of only a few in this GOP controlled city and county in CA. It relies mostly on donations from individuals and some local businesses. Last year it almost had to close after losing a major government grant. But the people of the community rallied together to raise enough funds to keep the shelter open (barely.)
Meanwhile, certain middle aged and older “men” in government (national and local), without a single cell’s worth of empathy, want to yank the social rug out from under the disabled, poor, elderly, and others who will increasingly need to depend on such shelters as an alternative to lack of governmental programs. The county just announced the next fiscal year budget, which slashes funding of employment, social work, and other social program services (including cutting Boys & Girls’ Club funding by almost 80%).
