Still ages away from moving back home. 8/18 is now the date. Kicking myself because I knew, and every time I don't follow my gut I come to regret it, I should have tied his payment and the amount paid to his performance and dates hit. I should stress the dude is doing really quality work, just a month plus behind.
When you are 49, living with your parents, sleeping on an air mattress, dressing out of a suit case, a month is a really long time.
With that said and I never thought I'd say this in a sentence, but I went shopping yesterday and spent more than $35,000.
When I say I lost almost everything I lost almost everything. Who knew one of the largest furniture stores in the country is in rural, southern Illinois. A few miles from where I am staying. I had been in the place before and it is so massive I don't know how to put it to words. They like to joke you can see it from space.
Yesterday I asked to speak to the owner if he/she was around.
I asked her what it would cost to move the stuff across the state, about 3 hours. She threw out this huge number. I was like that isn't cool. I got no problem paying so you cover your costs, but I am buying a lot of stuff. She is like what is a "lot of stuff." Well about $30,000. Delivery is now free :).
But the most fun was Best Buy. I am a proud nerd/geek. I build websites for a living. I had so much technology that when people come to my household for the first time and see my office they are freaked out. So much tech it would hurt your head. The tech was cool but not top-of-the-line. Also pieced together over years. I got the chance to build it all from scratch.
It was a surgical strike at buying. I had researched everything. Monitors. Smart lights. Router. Google Wifi. You name it. I never thought I would say this in a sentence either, but most happy about the Dyson I got. Always said I have an ethical issue with a $700 vacuum. I now have a $700 vacuum. I am looking to vacuum something, anything. Almost want to go the the folks next door and ask if I can vacuum :).
So in the grand scheme of things they are kind of okay. I just want to move back home and open up all my new “toys” and play with them.
