Caitlyn Jenner voted for Trump. When he called Mexicans rapists, she said nothing. When he demeaned women, her support for Trump remained strong. When he attacked African Americans, no problem, she was for Trump. But now her chickens have come home to roost. Trump went after a group to which she belongs and deeply identifies (don’t know why the sexism of Trump did not repel her, but she voted for the “p...y grabber” anyway). Now Trump attacked the trans community and is harming many in the military with his ban. Caitlyn Jenner noticed and spoke out:
Wouldn’t it be nice if people had solidarity even if they were not part of the current group being attacked by Trump? Better late than never for Caitlyn, but her lack of compassion for others Trump attacked for years does not say a lot for her.
I think of this saying:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
MARTIN NIEMÖLLER: "FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE SOCIALISTS..."
We still can speak out.
Trump yesterday:
“And you’ve seen the stories about some of these animals,” Trump said of undocumented immigrant gang members—thereby effectively stereotyping all undocumented immigrants as gang members. “They don’t want to use guns, because it’s too fast and it’s not painful enough. So they’ll take a young, beautiful girl—16, 15 and others—and they slice them and dice them with a knife because they want them to go through excruciating pain before they die. And these are the animals that we’ve been protecting for so long. Well, they’re not being protected anymore, folks.”
Like Hitler, Trump dehumanizes his victims.
Every day, families are being torn apart by Trump’s evil deportation force.
We need to speak out.
