Everyone's favorite Democrat, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz seems to be at the center of a mystery. Why did she keep this guy on the payroll so long?
When a computer expert who worked for congressional Democrats was accused of stealing computers and data systems in February, members of Congress cut him loose within days, leaving Imran Awan with no supporters five months later.
Except for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The Weston Democrat has not explained in detail why she continued to employ Awan until Tuesday when she fired him — after he was arrested on bank-fraud charges at Dulles International Airport in Virginia attempting to board a flight to Pakistan.
The usual suspects on the right are apparently jumping all over this. Anyone have any idea what might have been going on?
For months — since the IT investigation was revealed — the far-right and pro-Trump media have tried without evidence to link Awan and his wife, brother, and friends to conspiracy theories, especially those surrounding the release of the DNC emails.
It especially picked up Tuesday, after his arrest.
Alt-right YouTuber George Webb, who has roughly 40,000 subscribers to his channel, has posted numerous videos about Awan and his family.
Okay, we still don’t know why DWS kept him on the payroll so long, other than taking her explanations at face value. But, the desperation from the Trump side of the divide to find something, anything they can turn into a Democratic scandal is resulting in ever widening CT theories. (i.e.: Pizza Parlor Pedophilia). The post by docsiege on This Is How You Turn “Nice Folks” into Nazis shows how the GOP has crafted a world view that feeds into the worst instincts of their base, and Trump is cranking it up.
..."These people accept almost without question the statements and actions of established authorities, and comply with such instructions without further ado" writes Dean. "[They] are intolerant of criticism of their authorities, because they believe the authority is unassailably correct. Rather than feeling vulnerable in the presence of powerful authorities, they feel safer….
...Right-wing followers do not hesitate to inflict physical, psychological, financial, social, or other forms of harm on those they see as threatening the legitimacy of their belief system and their chosen authority figure..."Authoritarian aggression is fueled by fear and encouraged by a remarkable self-righteousness, which frees aggressive impulses."…
...Right-wing authoritarian followers prefer to see the world in stark black-and-white. They conform closely with the rules defined for them by their authorities, and do not stray far from their own communities. This extreme, unquestioning conformity makes them insular, fearful, hostile to new information, uncritical of received wisdom, and able to accept vast contradictions without perceiving the inherent hypocrisy...
These are the people the Republicans are trying to keep ahead of. They have to keep feeding them a constant stream of BS or risk having them either turn on or turn away from them. Either will lead to a loss of power — so they keep doubling down.
It’s only going to get worse when Hillary Clinton’s book is released in September. This is the kind of thing that tore Rwanda apart. It can happen here. There are early signs that the fear and anger the GOP is ramping up may break loose.
