NBC has just run a story in which they report that a group of primarily moderate Republicans and Democrats have been communicating in secret for several weeks in an attempt to find common ground on how to improve healthcare and health insurance.
According to the story, they have tried to keep their meetings secret even from their aids to keep their activities and identities from party leadership; however, the failure of the skinny repeal last night has brought some bipartisan activities out into the open.
As the article dramatically describes, Sen. Murray and Sen. Alexander, the two ranking members of the Health and Labor committee, were not even discussing their committee’s affairs with one another, but immediately got together to discuss future hearings after the amendment’s failure.
