I have to be honest here with regards to HBO’s new show, Confederate
I truly don’t think this is intended in the way that many people here are saying, and I think a lot of people are indeed getting too hysterical and worked up.
I am one of the many people who is truly disgusted by the fact that slavery is part of our nation’s history, and I believe this nation should apologize for it. However, it IS part of our history; we can’t sweep it under the rug, and we can never think we should be able to just forget about it.
I really believe that the purpose of this new show is to indeed be a much needed jolt to people who have done that; forgotten how horrible slavery was, and how despicable it was that our nation allowed it for so long.
As the years go on, and we get further and further away from the times of slavery, and it’s imagery and memory fades, it becomes harder and harder for each new generation to picture it, and understand it. It becomes increasingly difficult for people to try to put themselves in the shoes of a slave, to be able to close their eyes and place themselves in that circumstance, and to genuinely understand at any level how horrible it was.
I think that is what this show is intending to accomplish; bring it to a modern setting so people of the newer generations can truly “SEE IT” for the despicable thing that it was. This is intended to be a reminder so that we never forget. And slavery is indeed something that should NEVER be forgotten, because when you forget history, when you refuse history, when you cast it aside, you WILL repeat it.
To my fellow Kossacks, stop with the hysterical outrage over this. Save the outrage for the orange shitpile and how he is trying to tear down everything that makes our country great.
