Every generation thinks that the younger generations are a bunch of idiots… just ask your parents.
Have you noticed something that Republicans and Democrats seem to agree on? We all take joy in degrading the millennials. This is where the ‘both sides do it’ argument really is true.
Guess how millennials voted?
www.romper.com/…
That’s right. If 18-25 year olds were the only block who voted then Clinton would have won the electoral vote 504-23.
Republicans understand that democrats are strong with the youth vote. They would like to chip away at that voting block. They don’t need our young voters to vote Republican, they just need less to vote for Democrats.
So Tomi Lahren pokes fun at millennial men. Who are largely liberal. Tells them they are weak. That they are not manly enough to defend the country during a time of war. She says liberalism makes them weak. Here is a hot young woman telling you that you are a weak, undesirable man because of your liberalism. Pretty powerful (if not slightly subliminal) message.
Now… when you first saw the meme above… did you chuckle? Did you quietly agree even though you can’t stand Tomi Lahren?
The right tells them that they aren’t good enough and the left tacitly agrees because “stupid, lazy millenials” or something. It’s no wonder that they are sliding toward independent candidates… for which we deride them further.
This is how the electoral college would have looked if ONLY millennials had voted. Clearly, when it comes to politics, it’s the older generations that are the problem.
Young voters are the future of politics in this country. More and more it looks like our national identity could be determined by how we vote.
The young, as a group, are just as legitimate of a voice in the future of our country as men or women or blacks or browns or gays… perhaps even more so. We stand up for the rights of those groups. Why do we let the right push our kids around?
For the record… I am 50 years old and consider my grand parents to be the greatest American generation (WW2 generation). It’s about time someone picked up the mantle. Lets give the kids a chance.
