Trump announced that there would be a “major press conference “ at the White House yesterday in the wake of the blowback from his refusal to condemn white supremacists for the killing of Heather Heyer and injuring others.
There was no press conference. Trump evidently does not know what a press conference is, believing that if he reads a statement to reporters, that's a press conference.
No questions were taken but Jim Acosta of CNN persisted. Trump s hatred of Acosta is well documented and their exchange culminated in this:
Acosta: Can we ask you some more questions then?
Trump: It doesn't bother me at all. But, you know, I like real news, not fake news. You're fake news.
Acosta: With all due respect, Mr. President, haven't you spread a lot of fake news yourself sir?

I don't know what to be more aghast about
- the President of the United States has so degraded our discourse that this exchange could take place
- that a national reporter was able to stand in front of the president and legitimately say these words
- that current news events and climate is so incendiary that this did not even get noticed !
We must get rid of this national nightmare and bring dignity and lawfulness back to the office of the president. This is soul crushing
