I went to the doctor earlier this week. I had not been there for so long that they called me and said to come in if I was still alive. So I was and I went. My doctor loves me and is glad I am so healthy. All of my tests look good, my bones are thinning a little but nothing serious, I am up to date on my vaccinations and I got my boobs squished. I probably won’t have to see him again until his nurse calls in a year or so.
As he was leaving the room, he stopped and turned back to me. He said “You are the reason we have a rescue dog. All the years you have come to me and shown me pictures and told me stories of your dogs made me think twice about a rescue dog. I never thought of myself as a dog person, but we took the kids to the shelter and adopted the best dog ever! He is a pit bull/rhodesian mix, beautiful and the best dog. We all just love him and he is such a member of the family. I owe it to you. I want to thank you so much!”
I was stunned, touched and grateful. Some fabulous dog is living good with a wonderful family who loves him and I helped! I thanked him for taking a chance on a dog, for loving him forever, and for actually listening to me all these years. We were both happy when we parted.
You never know what will grow of the seeds of your life that you scatter as you go. We all touch others in ways we almost never know about. It is lovely when someone lets you know you are worthy of emulation, that you have brought joy in some small way. It encourages me to try to be more grateful to those who have been there for me, those who’s little contribution is larger than life to me, and let them know they matter.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

8/16 was lil zen’s 33rd birthday. She is on the road to the eclipse in Oregon and away from home on her birthday for the first time in her life. We stay close. I miss her but hope she has a wondrous time. Have a good day all.
