Ok, some of this is repeat from my last diary but I am still so royally pissed that I’m writing again.
I’m pretty confident that the Sexual Pervert and his cadre of GOP abettors have zero clue that there is actually something called The American Battle Monuments Commission. Congress knows something about it as a place to cut funding. For years, my Mom and her sister paid a paltry sum through the Commission for flowers on Memorial Day and their brother’s birthday. That was some kind of budget breaker. My brother now works directly with a local Belgian florest.
Louis A. Burdette (Skeets) died a hero during the clean up of the Battle of the Bulge. He was barely 20. He is buried in Ardennes Cemetery in Belgium. His body wasn’t found for two years after his death. His mother never believed it was him — she held out hope he was wandering as MIA or in a POW camp, soon to return. No dog tags and two different burial site numbers.
I learned, by going to Ardennes that there was an original graveyard for the remains — waiting to see if families wanted the return of their husbands, brothers, fathers, sons. Then they were moved to a final resting place which remains a remarkable work of art. The Military Superintendent assured me that, even without dog tags, every one who served and died was identified. ID numbers were also stamped on belts and boots.
Not sure if there’s still money for DNA sampling of the unknowns, but several have been returned for burial here after identification. Our IGTNT team have welcomed them home. My family is comforted by the Belgians who care for this cemetery and show up for every Memorial Day.
The SP and friends will never know about real memorials to sacrifice which isn’t treason. I’m actually happy that Ardennes Cemetery is featured first at the American Battle Monuments website. This "chapel" contains beautiful mosaics of the battlegrounds where many died -- Americans and Not Americans. Around this monument are the graves of the unknown. Behind it are the graves of the known. My Uncle Skeets is there.
See those flags and flowers and the sand from Normandy Beach that enhances my uncle’s name, etc.? Thank a Belgian. Those flowers cost $25 American dollars. Belgians honor our real memorials more than the Pervert who has usurped the office of the presidency.
