Happy Friday! I think that after the past couple of weeks we all need something to celebrate, something to be a little thankful for. So today I decided to give you a Little Holidays diary.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

18 Bad Poetry Day And of course bad poetry makes me think of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the Vogons:
19 Aviation Day
19 National Honey Bee Awareness Day - Third Saturday Ways to help the bees
Support local beekeepers by buying locally produced honey and other beehive products. Honey is the best "green" sweetener you can buy.
Educate yourself on the dangers and risks with homeowner pesticides and chemicals. Whenever possible, choose non-damaging and non-chemical treatments in and around the home. Most garden and backyard pests can be dealt with without harsh chemicals, which many times are nit healthy for the pets, the kids, or the environment.
Plant a bee friendly garden with native and nectar producing flowers. Use plants that can grow without extra water and chemicals. Native plants are the best to grow in any region. Backyard gardens benefit from the neighborhood beehive. Here is a link where you can read more about "Backyard Wildlife Habitat".
19 National Potato Day
20 National Radio Day
20 World Mosquito Day
21 National Spumoni Day
21 Senior Citizen's Day
21 Solar Eclipse — This year only!
22 Be an Angel Day — polish your halos!
It’s Be An Angel Day! This day was established by Jayne Howard Feldman in 1993. Its purpose is to encourage people to perform random acts of kindness and to help those in need.
Use today to put others before yourself, and to reach out to those who need some extra support. Even a small act of kindness can go a long way! Fill a random parking meter, mow your neighbor's lawn, or send an unexpected note to a loved one. All of these acts are great ways to be an angel for a day!

22 National Tooth Fairy Day - and/or February 28 They even made a movie out of it!
23 Ride the Wind Day
National Ride The Wind Day commemorates the anniversary of the first human-powered flight to win the Kremer prize. It was on August 23rd of 1977 that the Gossamer Condor 2, flew the first figure-eight course specified by the Royal Aeronautical Society, at Minter Field in Shafter, CaLifornia. Slowly cruising at only 11 mph, it traveled a distance of 2,172 meters.

24 Vesuvius Day — A day to remember that life can change in an instant.
So I hope you have a great day, and that this brightens your week a bit (Ok, except for the 24th, though it’s an interesting bit of history). Feel free to post your bad poetry below!
