To Republican Members of Congress and News Commentators:
I'm glad President Trump said what he said in that news conference on Tuesday. I think it's the first time I've seen him totally honest and sincere. None of it should have surprised anyone who has paid any attention during the campaign and since. Or anyone who has paid attention to his policies, which are uniformly racist, sexist, and classist.
Congress and pundits, if what he said bothered you, try to remember racism is about more than statues. If you truly want to oppose racism, try opposing Jeff Sessions' increasingly racist law and order agenda. Try opposing the deportations of DACA kids and the breaking up of law-abiding immigrant families. Condemn those border agents who illegally turn away those seeking asylum at the border. Come out strong against the Muslim travel ban. Stop the laws that make it harder for minority citizens to vote. Otherwise, I'm not interested in what you have to say about racism.
Sincerely,
Someone who is watching.
