Just my own quick little rant as I sit here watching the various reports on Hurricane Harvey and seeing reporter after reporter standing out in the driving wind and rain, screaming to be heard above the wind, to show us all how bad it is. I’m watching road signs getting lofted into the air like paper airplanes and you news media people think it’s a GOOD idea to send some poor schmuck out where he could get killed by flying debris just so we can all see how dangerous it is? REALLY? I think we’ve all seen enough disaster movies and remote camera footage of what a hurricane looks like. You don’t need to LITERALLY risk someone’s life to demonstrate the obvious. Let the hurricane do its damage and THEN send people out to report on it. Stop pandering for ratings like this. The guy or gal sitting at the news desk can update us on all the details — current wind speeds, amount of rainfall so far, etc. I have a vivid enough imagination to get a good idea what it must look and feel like.
Okay, rant over!
