‘’What do you want to be when you grow up?’’ is one of those questions that I both loved and hated as a kid...
...mostly because there were so many things that I always wanted to be from a bus driver or a taxicab driver to a theoretical physicist (I’ve been an Albert Einstein fan since I was 10 years old and one of these days, I will get an Albert Einstein tattoo).
My love of writing and journalism didn’t become apparent until I was in 8th grade or so and, since then, I’ve always written and I certainly planned to go to school and study journalism, writing and the like...and then life, as it has a tendency to do, happened.
I never put the pen/typewriter/laptop down and I have published a very few things over the years and, yes, dreamed of getting a Pulitzer or maybe even a Nobel...but I am nowhere near that...yet (?)
One of the things that I do love the most about Daily Kos is that DK has given me a forum to at least take my writings out of the realm of my personal notebooks and jottings and the occasional submission and, for better or worse, I can put it out there and get all sorts of audience feedback.
The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, the Tao Te Ching says...and now that I think about it, I’ve taken several steps and I am loving this journey...although occasionally when I take a taxi, I do get...a little jealous…
Today’s Question: What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you become what you wanted to be when you grew up? Did you come close?
