If it wasn’t for hot air and hypocrisy, Maine’s Republican Governor Paul LePage might not even exist. CNN reports that the man who claimed that all of the illegal drugs in Maine were brought in by blacks and hispanics from out of state, doesn’t want to submit to the will of the people because of … federal rights. Friday he vetoed a bill that would regulate and tax the sale of legalized recreational marijuana.
Paul LePage said one reason he vetoed the bill is because the federal government prohibits cannabis.
"Until I clearly understand how the federal government intends to treat states that seek to legalize marijuana, I cannot in good conscience support any scheme in state law to implement expansion of legal marijuana in Maine," he said, in a letter to state lawmakers. "We need assurances that a change in policy or administration at the federal level will not nullify those investments."
This is the man that has 5-times vetoed the state’s attempts to expand medicaid with the federal government’s blessing. It would be funny if people’s lives weren’t so adversely affected by this old bag of bigotry. It seems that most people are sick and tired of Paul LePage’s piss-poor leadership. Let’s hope he doesn’t end up the head of the DEA under Trump.
