The next twenty-four hours will likely be crazy for all of you. I get it. Every one of you who decided to run has already accomplished something incredible. You stood up for your community and put your voice in the marketplace of ideas.
While we wait for you to take office and look forward to celebrating with you, I wanted to say please take some time tonight, today, at lunch, at dinner, wherever you can spare a few minutes and recognize that everyone in our community is proud of you.
We are all proud of your work and determination, proud to know your strength, proud to know that our issues were represented and that people were given a chance to vote on them.
Many people who run races for local office wonder, after they take office - and I'm aware we have some who will face no race in the general - what next? Where is my support network? I’d urge you to reach out to your fellow Democrats in the real world or online, who are waiting to help support your success in office.
Today and tomorrow you're going to feel the pressure. And relief. You've worked so hard to speak to so many, to benefit your community.
Never doubt that this election, you inspired a lot of people to follow you, and to take steps toward their own service. Thank you for your leadership and for your dedication.
Now, let's do this.
