A story is going around how Donald Trump dumped an entire box of fish food into a koi pond. A major gaffe, right? Yet the latest stupid thing Trump has done, right? It generated reports such as this:
theslot.jezebel.com/…
Tasked with finding an engaging, tactile activity for an exceedingly dull child, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe probably thought he nailed it when he decided to bring the visiting flesh potato to feed the fish at the Akasaka palace in Tokyo. Koi are bright and colorful, like big, slimy crayons. Their food is beige and crumbly, like all of The Baby’s cabinet members. What fun they would have!
...
So I guess none of us should be surprised when, after flinging in a few lumps of food, the Baby just overturned the entire feed box atop the animals.
Well...turns out, that’s not quite what happened. CNN and a few others have the video:
www.cnn.com/…
Notice that Donald empties his box after Japanese Prime Minister Abe does. But it still looks funny. :D And could Donald have been more childish in the way he dumped his?
Why bring up this minor story, then? What’s the big news here? Simply this: Silly incidents such as these are fodder for fake news or exaggerated reports. It wouldn’t surprise me if quite a few start to circulate the internets by tomorrow. You know, the “Everybody knows you don’t dump the entire box of fish food into the tank!” variety.
So be on guard. Watch out for fake or exaggerated news, even if the content is something you agree with. In fact that’s the kind of propaganda you need to resist the most. Facts matter. An informed electorate matters.
Besides, Donald will provide us plenty of actual gaffes to laugh at. #covfefe
