Ever since I retired, I have made it a point to never, ever travel on Black Friday or the day after Christmas. When I worked, travel to and from work was a necessity and the horror stories we can all tell are abundant on those days.
But First, A Word From Our Sponsor:

Traffic was nothing but madness magnified. Too many drivers weren't minding the road, any other cars, traffic signals, or pedestrians — instead they were concentrating on looking for store signs so they could continue their shopping frenzy. Too many pedestrians, avoiding parking lots, parked on the street and dodged traffic to get across the road to any sale that beckoned. Driving anywhere was a nightmare.
Store or mall parking lots? Fagedaboudit! Drivers would circle like buzzards or wait at the front of the store and block traffic behind them until a juicy parking spot opened up. Many would also loudly honk their horn at anyone taking "too much time" to unload their cart into their trunk if they wanted that space for themselves. And don’t even get me started on the number of handicapped parking spots occupied by vehicles without a disability license plate or displayed handicapped placard.
And when there was a nearby parking spot, they’d race to take it no matter what or who was in their way. Fender benders were inevitable as the Black Friday madness overtook far too many drivers and I remember many folks walking to their own vehicles having to dodge oncoming cars.
And that’s not even mentioning what happens INSIDE the stores themselves.
Complete and utter madness. I couldn’t help noticing how much law enforcement needed to be present — something we all pay for — to keep things a little bit in control.
Here’s to hoping your Thanksgiving was lovely and that if you ventured out on Black Friday, that you returned home intact.
Now, on to what you really came for: Top Comments, Top Mojo and Top Pictures.
