For the last few days, Roy Moore has been trolling Gloria Allred about her refusal to turn over Beverly Young Nelson’s yearbook for independent analysis.
Allred maintains that she is more than willing to turn over the yearbook—provided Moore agree to testify before the Senate Ethics Committee under oath. But even without that to consider, Moore has yet to offer an answer for a more important discrepancy.
In case you missed it, Moore claims that Nelson had no problem letting Moore handle her 1999 divorce—and according to his lawyer, Phillip Jauregui, there actually was contact between them. But analysis of court records by ThinkProgress and WHNT-TV reveals that a different judge handled the initial matters in that divorce. Nelson, then known as Beverly Harris, briefly reconciled with her husband, and as a result the case was dismissed—before she ever had to appear before Moore.
The only time Moore came anywhere near the case was when the motion to dismiss the case hit his desk. He had his legal assistant stamp his signature on the motion—and there was no reason for Nelson to even come to the courthouse, let alone get anywhere near Moore. It’s been over a week—and Moore has yet to offer a rebuttal.
Last time I checked, court documents carry more weight than yearbooks. Bear that in mind the next time a Moore supporter whines, “Where is the yearbook?”
