Received this e-mail today from newly-elected Virginia House Delegate, Chris Hurst (D. VA):
Have you heard about the election shenanigans in Virginia? Hundreds of voters were assigned to the wrong precincts and were given the wrong ballot on Election Day.
Even as progressive Democrats made massive gains nationwide and in Virginia, there can still be more progressive victories, including taking another Virginia House seat—and possibly progressive control of the Virginia legislature.
But that can’t happen if there isn’t an investigation into why these voters were disenfranchised on Election Day.
Can you chip in $25 dollars to our Voter Protection Fund to make sure progressives can defend the rights of these voters?
In the area where voters were given incorrect ballots, progressive Democrat Joshua Cole, a reverend and a behavioral aide for public school children, trails by just 82 votes.
Democrats need strong progressives like Joshua Cole to represent us, but that won’t happen if we can’t protect the integrity of our elections.
Federal courts have hinted that the only fair remedy could be a special election for this House seat.
Can you chip in $25 dollars to our Voter Protection Fund to protect voting rights and prepare for a possible special election?
Sincerely,
Team Hurst
