Due in part to the hard work of Mansour Omari a Syrian Human Rights Advocate the Museum is going to feature letters that he had secretly taken out of the prison he was being held in for his human rights actions.
The new exhibit, “Syria: Please Don’t Forget Us” is opening at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington
Quoting Omari:
“All humanity suffering is one…No matter if you were Jew or Christian or Muslim or Rohinga or Cambodian,” “If you are a victim, you are a victim. If you are a perpetrator, you are a perpetrator.”
As the director of the museum’s center for the prevention of genocide puts it:
“We want people to leave our permanent exhibition on the Holocaust, where they might ask themselves ‘What would I have done had I been in Germany in the 1930s?’” “And then walk into this room on Syria and they can ask themselves, ‘What am I going to do now, what am I going to do today?’”
I think this is very important, especially under the “president” that we are currently forced to endure.
