Some thoughts on a flight home today:
“The Courage Quota” is One: Even the “best” Republicans only get one incidence of courage. McCain, Collins and Murkowski exhausted theirs on ACA repeal. There is no courage left for them to vote humanely on the Tax Bill. The courage glass is empty. They are “ex-courageous.” Corker has now used up his one courage unit.
Use the Shut-down threat for tax bill also: Some Democrats have threatened to force a government shut-down to pass DACA protection and CHIP renewal. I say add reversal of the worst cuts in the tax bill to the threat.
For 8 years, Republicans obstructed Democrats attempts to do good things. Are Democrats really doing all they can to stop terrible things?
This is a lethal bill. True Democrats must do everything to stop or mitigate its harm, including forcing a shutdown.
(and remember how everyone thought the 2013 shutdown hurt the Republicans in the 2014 midterms?. That totally happened, right Senators Udall of CO and Sen. Nunn of GA?)
Give some love to Rod Rosenstein: In all the hope for justice after today’s Flynn plea, don’t forget who put Mueller where he is. Much maligned Asst. AG Rod Rosenstein. He had the courage to put a serious, unimpeachable, dogged prosecutor to go after these creeps. Imagine the shit he’s getting from the Trump crooks now.
