Alright, lets get it going.
In Franken’s wake, three Senators call on Trump to resign
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and two of his Democratic colleagues have suggested that President Trump should consider resigning, after a run of sexual-harassment scandals has driven out some members of Congress.
Sen. Al Franken “felt it proper for him to resign,” Sanders said in an interview with NBC's “Meet the Press” Sunday morning, referring to the Democrat from Minnesota. “Here you have a president who has been accused by many women of assault, who says on a tape that he assaulted women. He might want to think about doing the same.”
Sanders's comment, which built on a tweet he sent last week, came after Democratic Sens. Jeff Merkley (Ore.) and Cory Booker (N.J.) suggested that the "#MeToo moment” should prompt another look at the women who accused Trump of sexual harassment during the 2016 presidential campaign.
This is why it was so important for Franken to retire. It was unfortunate to lose him, but Franken knew he had done wrong, and that the Democrats need to be better than the Donald Trumps and Roy Moore’s of the GOP. And now the Dems are free to continue attacking Trump about his own misconduct. Go get em!
Activists Rally in Denver for Net Neutrality
A rally downtown on Saturday was the latest attempt to raise awareness for “Net Neutrality” days before a vote by the Federal Communications Commission expected to reverse the policy, supporters say the move will affect how consumers see online content.
“The internet being slowed down for certain sites, the internet blocking certain sites, it impacts what you want, it impacts your freedom of speech, and your freedom of information,” said Zach Amdursky.
Protests like this are happening all over the country, and people in congress are beginning to take notice. Keep up the pressure!
‘A Weapon of desperation’: Trump loyalists are doubling down on a familiar strategy as the Russia probe reaches a boiling point
Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election is ramping up, and with it, President Donald Trump's allies are reaching new heights to discredit Mueller and the Russia probe.
The special counsel has so far charged four of Trump's former associates as part of the investigation: former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former adviser and Manafort associate Rick Gates, former foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, and former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Mueller is also said to be building an obstruction-of-justice case against the president, stemming mainly from Trump's decision to fire FBI director James Comey in May.
As Mueller's investigation pushes on, Trump's loyalists in politics and the media have launched a campaign focused on painting the special counsel and his investigators as biased and partisan, while echoing Trump's demands that the FBI also investigate Comey and Trump's former opponent, Hillary Clinton, over their alleged Russia ties.
Conservative talking heads and Trump allies latched onto a string of damaging reports this week about investigators on Mueller's team.
The Washington Post reported that Peter Strzok, a widely respected FBI counterintelligence veteran who used to work with Mueller on the Russia investigation, was ousted in July because he exchanged texts with a colleague at the FBI that could have shown that he favored Clinton over Trump.
Trumps defenders are becoming desperate. They would not be trying this hard if Mueller wasn’t close to something BIG. We’ve got Trump on the ropes now.
Alabama Senator Richard Shelby says he couldn’t bring himself to vote for Roy Moore.
Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby said on Sunday that he could not bring himself to vote for Republican candidate Roy Moore in Alabama’s upcoming Senate election.
Shelby, a Republican, said he did not vote for the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, but had written in a “distinguished Republican candidate” who he did not name.
“I’d rather see a Republican win, but I hope that Republican will be a write in,” Shelby told CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union. “I think a lot of people could do that. Will they do that? I’m not sure.”
“I couldn’t vote for Roy Moore,” he said. “The state of Alabama deserves better.”
Since Nov. 9, nine women have said Moore pursued them romantically, with many saying they were in their teens and he was in his 30s. The allegations included initiating sexual contact with a 14-year-old and serving an underage teenager wine. Moore has denied all the allegations, characterizing them as politically motivated and an attack from the liberal media.
This is good news because a split vote for the Republican gives Doug Jones a better chance of winning. We might have a small chance in Alabama yet!
Trump Impeachment process is just getting started, says Texas Democrat who forced first vote.
A defeated vote to impeach President Donald Trump will not be a mere “footnote in history,” insisted the Democrat who launched the first formal proceedings in the House designed to remove Trump from office. Texas Representative Al Green forced a vote on impeachment through a special resolution in the House Wednesday.
While it was soundly defeated, by 364 votes to 58, Green, who has long been one of Trump’s fiercest critics in Congress, is adamant that the journey toward impeachment is only just getting started
“I’m convinced it won’t be a non-event,” he told Newsweek Thursday. “There are some people who would like it to be just a footnote in history. I think that this will be a significant historical event. And the people who took that vote to decide to take the road less traveled are going to become a piece of history that scholars will review.”
The 58 votes in favor of debate on impeaching Trump was “pleasantly pleasing,” said Green, who added that he had not sought to canvass votes beforehand. In sheer numbers, it represents the biggest push yet to oust a historically unpopular and controversial president.
Yeah, that first vote didn’t work out, but its still early on. As more unsavory stuff comes out about Trump we will eventually flip more and more people and eventually bring him down.
Well, that’s enough for now. Have a good day.
