While there are many Republicans that are endeavoring to defend Donald Trump, two sleezy congressmen (Rep. Jim Jordan R-Oh and Rep. Mark Meadows R-NC) stand-out as the sleeziest of the sleezy. In particular, Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has been making the most outrageous and ridiculous accusations that clearly indicate he believes everybody is stupid. He either takes us for fools or just doesn't care.
While he isn''t alone, he is certainly more outspoken that most other defenders of the President. It could not be more obvious that his motives are founded only in an attempt to discredit and derail the investigation. Blame it on Hillary? Sure, it is just political mischief in its simplest form, but you have to consider the context here. This Russia investigation is not and should not be partisan. It certainly should not be politics as usual. It is about our democracy, and quite simply; our freedom. Respect for our constitution and a demonstration of that respect should dictate the behavior of every politician regardless of party.
Where is the patriotism we have always expected from our politicians? Has it become too much to ask? It appears very clear that Jim Jordan cares not if our elections have been compromised by an adversary of our country. He cares not if our government is compromised? What about the possibility that our freedom may be sold for Russian funds that are laundered and passed along to wealthy Americans. Does that not matter?
If you listen to his argument for more than two seconds (blame it on Hillary), you immediatly realize that the possibility of insulting your intelligence is not even a consideration of his. Deflect, deter, and blame the F.B.I??? What? As a representative of the people in Ohio, those being harmed the most by this president's policies, he must be counting on the fact that they are not smart enough to see through his shallow arguments and accusations against the investigation and in defense of the president. That is insulting. The shame of it is; if our president is innoccent and has been falsely accused, an investigation will clear him and can only improve his credibility. Think about it. So there should be nothing to fear and no reason to defend him. Why won't Jordan back-off?
The reason; because he is among many spineless Republicans that are unwilling to demonstrate that our democracy and our constitution take precedence above their personal political interests. While there may a rational for not speaking-out in defense of our freedom and our constitution, there is absolutely no excuse for demonstrating a complete lack of regard for them.
Apparently, Jordan believes that the 2018 mid-term election will be a cake walk for him. His arrogance speaks volumes. However, I think that people in Ohio are much smarter than that. So I am hopeful that he will soon find himself on the outside looking in. It is just sad that we have so many elected Republican officials acting so irresponsibly! Their actions are unAmerican and unpatriotic. The future of governing in this country should hold no place for anyone representing the Republican party unless and until they are able to demonstrate respect for our constitution and our freedom. I believe that it will take many, many years to restore their credibility if it is at all possible.
