On November 10, 2016, while still reeling from the atrocity which had taken place two days earlier, I tweeted out what I thought was a rather innocuous and obvious response to a typically idiotic quip by Chris “I want to smell the pit stains in Ivanka’s blouse” Cillizza.
(note: Cillizza’s original tweet referred to “all 59 million Trump voters”; it would later turn out to be nearly 63 million as additional vote counts were reported over the next few days).
To say I wasn’t expecting the response is an understatement: Over 3.3 million views to date, with over 48,000 Likes and 28,000 Retweets.
It was reposted on Facebook, Tumblr, etc, often without attribution...and then, during one of the Women’s Marches last January, someone over at the Occupy Democrats Facebook page posted the following photo:
Whoa.
Hell, it even made an Al Jazeera video segment.
The best part? The building appears to be the Hubert H. Humphrey Building in Washington D.C...otherwise known as the headquarters of the U.S. Health & Human Services Dept., which seems fitting given what I’m best known for writing about.
Of course, Cillizza wasn’t the only one pooh-poohing the “Trump supporters are racist” reality. There was this guy at the New York Times who, even as I type this, is busily deleting these tweets:
Anyway, it just seemed like this might be a good time to repost the statement. For no particular reason, mind you.
Oh, and yes, of course it means the others are racist as well. That was kind of my point.
