I know, a lot of people here really hate the never Trumpers because of their past sins, I get that. But in this insane period of our nation’s history, they are our allies in an all out fight to save our democracy. There will come a day, and I hope it’s sooner rather than later, when I’ll be writing blogs on DailyKos blasting these never Trumpers for their policy stands, but that day isn’t today.
I just finished a really nice book by Brian Greene about the Multiverse (multiple universes). Yesterday was one of those days when I wasn’t sure which universe I had just woke up in. Last night I found myself switching the channel back and forth from CNN and MSNBC as Max Boot on MSNBC was blasting the corruption of the Trump regime and the Republicans who are supporting him, and on CNN Rick Wilson was almost out of control going after a right wing talk show host for trying to dodge the racism of the very stable genius’s racist comment.
Rick Wilson is a master of insult, a form of humor that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve never seen him so close to completely losing it. There’s a video here that you can watch, go watch it it’s pretty intense.
You know, hearing John’s defense of Trump and of this overtly racist aspect of it, it shocks me that we still have people in this country — you know, don’t bother calling yourself a conservative if you don’t believe there’s a way where people who come and embrace the proposition of this country can become Americans. Because we’ve worked very hard in this country to accept people from around the world and of varying backgrounds,” Wilson told Fredericks. “You know what, John? I’m sure your ancestors here weren’t descended from the Mayflower in some cloud of heavenly light. I’m sure they came here from Ireland, Germany, Italy or somewhere else. You know what? Back then, they were the sh*thole people. Back then, they were the people who were looked down upon.”
Wilson added if Fredericks believes that people from such nations shouldn’t come here that he should “go on Amazon, order yourself a pointy white hat, head down to Home Depot and get the wood to build a burning cross.”
“Well, it’s about economics, Rick. You can throw all the insults you want, and I appreciate it,” Fredericks responded, “but look, at the end of the day –”
“No, John. You don’t appreciate it,” Wilson interjected. “You’re a weak, impotent person who can’t handle the fact that there are people who don’t look like you, who want to come to this country because our system is awesome. You hate that, you hate it so much, because you’re so weak inside.”
“That’s your substantive argument to me, Rick Wilson,” Fredericks interjected, “who backed every losing candidate–”
“John, I will gut you like a fish on this show if you want to keep this up,” Wilson warned.
“All right, guys,” said host Don Lemon, attempting to defuse the situation.
Fredericks argued that Trump’s position on immigration “isn’t about race,” which got heavy pushback from the rest of the panel.
