Back when Mizz Trissa, our beloved Pootie Queen, was still with us, silky (slksfca) decided to “look” for a furry companion. Led by The Pootie Queen, we cheered him on, as he considered which one would own him.
Dixie was a fighter….she survived years in a puppy mill, and when she was no longer “useful” she was discarded. She wound up in a wonderful shelter for Senior animals in San Francisco.
That’s where silky found her pic.
The rest, as the say…..is a wonderful story of a boy and his dog.
I think it was love at first sight, for both silky and Dixie! They bonded as few do, outside the covers of books for children. Or, maybe we do...and that’s why those books get written!
The boy and his dog were an immediate hit with Da Peeps. We followed their bonding and their shenanigans over time. As Miss Dixie went from being a “pet” to being a Diva in her own right.
Dat face!!! Dem EARS!!!
Dixie had such an expressive face!! And she did more for silky than any of us could know. He has his own health issues to battle, and having Dixie to care for added a new sweetness to his life.
This is not the clearest picture...but it shows who was “top dog” in the silky household!!
Taking Dixie for her daily “constitutionals” became an ongoing theme in the regular community diaries where he was, and is, a treasured member. She introduced silky to all sorts of peeps in his neighbourhood, many of whom he might not have met, otherwise.
And….Dixie was welcome in some unusual places…
This is my favourite pic of Dixie….she had been snooping around the park, investigating everything that tempted her nose...including the geese….and their “left behinds.”
Dixie and her daily travels became part of all of our lives. And when she was taken ill, we all worried over her, prayed for her, and offered our love and support to silky...just as he always did for all of us.
What most do not know is how much silky gave up and did without. Like so many of us, he is on a fixed (which really means “broken”) income. There is very little to spend on fripperies, but he never hesitated to do without so that his girl could have everything she needed, including the best medical care available. She came to him with health issues, and he gladly took care of her every. single. day.
When Dixie Doodle crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her Vet bills did not.
Please, lets help our very special kossack to eliminate this debt.
The original estimates of his debt was far lower than he actually owed.
He needs $5,000 to pay off the vet bills. Dixie was worth it and so is he. Show him how much you care by donating to PayPal — slksfca at gmail dot com
Taking care of Dixie was not only a labour of love for silky….it was also very expensive. He never once complained or denied her anything she needed. He just quietly went about providing for her up till and including her very last day.
When it came time to let her go, we all grieved with silky...and for the delightful woozle who had charmed her way into our hearts.

When my beloved HLOS crossed the Rainbow Bridge, silky sent me this pic:
I am including it here, because it was such a loving gesture from a friend, and I want it to resonate with other Kossacks, some of whom know him, some of whom do not.
Please help us pay off the debt that silky accrued, taking care of Dixie. Let me be very clear….he has never once asked for help, and is a bit stunned that we are doing this. Good! Let him be stunned to find that he is out of debt!
Many thanks to all of you for reading, contributing, and spreading the word.
On behalf of The PWB Peeps Community, I thank you.
