Yes — we ARE held to a higher standard. But how can Democrats excuse their vote for the NSA’s section 702? From the moral high ground that Michele implored us to occupy [like maybe NOT allow our gov’t to conduct mass secretive and warrantless searches on our citizenry ?] to just the plain political perception that many have painted as a legit question for Obama’s administration — the expansion of easily misused executive power.
And now we have the far and away most unhinged occupant of the WH in the history of our Nation and we accord this horrid administration a further extension of these powers?
I am aghast !
actions not words [Greenwald’s essay in the Intercept]
From Greenwald:
"How can anyone rational possibly take seriously all the righteous denunciations from people like Pelosi, Schiff, and Swalwell about how Trump is a lawless, authoritarian tyrant existentially threatening American democracy when those very same people just yesterday voted in favor of vesting him the virtually limitless power to spy on Americans with no warrants or safeguards?"
55 Dems- that’s right 55 -voted for this . And this in the face of a bipartisan amendment to offer at least a minimum of accountability and limitation [also rejected by these same Dems.]
So [again] I am expected to soldier into the ranks of apathetic [mostly younger] voters and convince them that my party would never enact politically expedient anti freedom measures. Oh no- that’s what those other guys do. We’re above that. Not us!
Really Nancy et al? You really believe Trump is an demented menace? Sorry- I can’t hear you over your actions….
