Happy Friday! Everyone is sick, has been sick all week, so it’s been a very long week with very little actually accomplished. Hopefully next week is better.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Not the flu, thankfully but a nasty cold, as well as a stomach bug has been running through the house all week. So far I’ve avoided catching that one (knock on wood). I think we should be buying stock in cold symptom meds, we use enough of it given there’s 4 people in the house sick at once!
We’ve also got some kind of weird lingering stomach bug. One of the symptoms is that all savory food tastes spoiled. Sweet is ok, but the rest, tastes awful. Even pizza! So yeah, a lot of ginger ale has been drunk, and jolly ranchers are a thing… especially after eating food you know you need (like mashed potatoes) that really taste *horrible*.
It’s also been cold again this week, we’ve got a hard freeze warning a couple of nights, including last night, and days not going out of the 50’s (and sometimes not out of the 40’s). And now this weekend is supposed to be warm, then next week cooler again. It’s no wonder everyone’s sick. My arthritis has been a pain, and I’m currently typing this with my gloves on, because my hands and feet are always cold from the FND in the first place, add in the actual cold temps and I’m frozen.
I’m just glad I can alter our school work to accommodate everyone being ill. Next week we try a regular schedule again. This seems to be a normal for us in January, we start getting back into a regular school routine, then BAM everyone is sick. Usually I start panicking about getting behind and not getting things finished, but this year I’m chilling a bit. One, we always end up catching up; two, I have a bit more wiggle room with our core subjects this year timeline wise. But on the bright side, being sick doesn’t mean missing out on school time, it just means rearranging things. She won’t have to play catch up like she would were she in public school. And we did get things done, we just had a lighter week.
