My daughter is going to the Women’s March this Saturday. Her mother marched for the same things 20 years ago. Her grandmother 40 years ago. Her great-grandmother 60 years ago. And her great-great-grandmother 80 years ago. WHY IS MY DAUGHTER STILL FIGHTING THIS SHIT?
As a college student in Alabama in 1965, some of us white boys went to Montgomery were we met the group who had marched from Selma — together we marched on the Alabama State Capitol. Dr. King was there, Ralph Abernathy, John Lewis (with his head bandaged) and Rosa Parks. Shortly thereafter, LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act. Now, we are struggling to protect the right to vote. WHY ARE WE STILL FIGHTING FOR A BASIC RIGHT?
In the 1940’s, my father — a high school football coach, math and chemistry teacher in Mississippi — enlisted to fight the Nazis, along with all his football players, his brothers, and every other young man in the country. Now, Nazis are marching in Charlottesville, VA. DID WE NOT KILL ENOUGH NAZI MUTHAHFUKAHS IN THE 1940’S???
My old granddaddy (1896-1972, born, reared, lived in Wilkinson County, MS) hated the Klan. One night, a carload of Klansmen fired several shots into his house — he fired back, killing two of them. Last year Klansmen marched down the streets of Charlottesville, VA. MAYBE MY OLD GRANDDADDY SHOULD HAVE KILLED MORE OF THE BASTARDS.
WHY IN GOD’S NAME ARE WE STILL FIGHTING THIS SHIT?????
