The TrumpRussia inquiry has learned, through testimony from Glenn A. Simpson, that Nigel Farage may be the conduit that gave WikiLeaks stolen data.
Glenn Simpson, a private investigator whose company compiled the controversial dossier alleging a conspiracy between Trump campaign officials and Russian agents, told the House intelligence committee that he was told by an unnamed source that the former Ukip leader had given data to Assange, but had no proof of the exchange.
When pressed on the issue, Simpson said that Assange was given a thumb drive by Farage, and that Farage has spent more time at the Ecuadorian embassy than previously thought.
Simpson told the committee – which is privy to classified US intelligence – that it would be possible to confirm how often Farage had visited Assange through a routine inquiry.
Assange has denied the allegations but was simultaneously undercut by a confirmation of the data tradeoff via WikiLeaks Twitter:
Assange made no public comment, but the WikiLeaks Twitter account said: “The question was about what kind of data. Game of Thrones or emails? 2016 or 2017? Simpson answers with a diversion.”
Assange has denied working as an agent of Russia and Farage has ridiculed suggestions that the Kremlin influenced either the US election or Britain’s 2016 vote to exit the European Union.
It doesn’t matter if the data is from 2016 or 2017. This tweet by WikiLeaks confirms that Nigel Farage is lying about his ‘unimportant’ visit with Assange back in early 2017, which a Farage spokesperson told the press was the only time both controversial figures had met at the embassy.
It is known that Farage visited the WikiLeaks founder in March 2017 but Farage has previously insisted that he went to the Ecuadorian embassy for journalistic purposes.
Journalistic purposes is either an on-the-record conversation, or a meeting for sourcing information to an individual. Both camps lying have only confirmed what is being reported: that Farage in all likelihood DID give Julian Assange a thumbdrive full of valuable information. And it’s important to note that big profile figures like Assange and Farage would not risk public exposure over a thumb drive of Game of Thrones. That’s who couriers like Assange-confidant Andy Müller-Maguhn are for.
This would also be yet another celebrity-status Brit involved with the KremlinGate scandal. It was initially reported that Rob Goldstone helped facilitate the now-infamous June 9th, 2016 meeting at Trump tower where the dirt on Clinton was offered in person to Trumpgang.
Tick tock.
