Well — what can I say? Dad came over this morning for coffee as he does every weekend — I fully expected him to be on board with blaming Democrats for the shutdown. Drinking the koolaid, so to speak.
Surprisingly, to me, he is NOT. He is totally on board with calling it the #trumpshutdown rather than the #schumershutdown. He’s REALLY pissed at Trump. :):)
His hobby lately has been going out to Ancestry and looking up our ancestors. He had a lot of printouts he wanted to show me. I had to go in to the computer room here and show him on Google Earth where Voss, Norway was.
He misses Mom. He talks about her all the time, reminisces about things that I have forgotten, but not quite haha. Oh Dad, he expected her to outlive him, and is surprised that he has.
He worries that my sister’s husband will burn through the money he leaves us — yeah, well, that is a problem — my BIL likes to buy shiny objects the minute he gets a little money — he also doesn’t vote — thank God — because if he DID vote, he would be a Trump supporter — but I told Dad — well, Sis is more sensible than that — she won’t let him burn through money — he’s not so sure, but he says, well that guy is FAMILY now — I want to make sure he doesn’t want for anything either.
What he doesn’t know — and what we will keep secret from him — is we don’t want to sell the house that him and Mom lived in from 1980 on. We want to LIVE in that house. We want to sell a couple of crap trailers and live there together. Land is worth more than money. He doesn’t need to know that.
Love you Dad, but we are NOT giving up that house. It’s got a great yard for kitties and Dad’s doggie.
Who he has charged us with making sure that Herbie has a good home after he goes.
I hope he lives to 100. But if he doesn’t we will do what we want with that property.
Love, Rose
