This may give some necessary context to the last week and McCabe’s premature resignation. Trump evidently met with Sessions and Wray last Monday and gave them directions on what he wants to see from them. Then Kelly followed up and applied more pressure. Then Associate Attorney General Boyd released a letter saying it would be reckless to release the phony Nunes memo.
Then Trump exploded on his way to Davos on Thursday and projected his losing ways all over Sessions and “others,” threatening them and demanding more effective work (i.e. push back against the Russia investigation).
And a few days later, McCabe resigns prematurely. Maybe he wasn’t convinced by Kelly’s insincere “disclaimer” (see below).
Trump erupted in anger while traveling to Davos after learning that Associate Attorney General Stephen Boyd warned that it would be “extraordinarily reckless” to release a classified memo written by House Republican staffers

Trump warned Sessions and others they need to excel at their jobs or go down as the worst in history, the two people said.

Kelly held separate meetings or phone calls with senior Justice Department officials last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to convey Trump’s displeasure and lecture them on the White House’s expectations, according to the people. Kelly has taken to ending such conversations with a disclaimer that the White House isn’t expecting officials to do anything illegal or unethical

This is some unprecedented and unconstitutional interference by the White House. And it looks REALLY REALLY desperate and incriminating.
