It has warmed up to the 20's and 30's recently and that seems good by comparison to a few weeks ago. It isn't going to last, of course. It is this time of year that makes me dream of visiting a desert island with a pile of books at hand and friends scattered around in lounge chairs with more piles of books to share.

Choosing books that we would hope to take with us is a fun thing, but it is also very hard when you love lots of books. Last week we talked about comfort books and perhaps those are the ones we would grab, but I suspect that some of us would bring some slightly more challenging stories so we wouldn't get bored.

plf and I usually began our list with a big book of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. That would keep me busy for quite a while. In past years, I have asked you to choose ten favorites, I think, though I did allow a series to count as one. Not sure. I am too tired to go back and check. But how do you choose just one series from McKillip, Cherryh, or Dorothy Dunnett? What about Pratchett...only one book? Should I take my best loved books or challenge myself to grab something new? Must I take only tomes to last a while?
