This morning’s twitter blast into the virtual firmament merely confirms what observers have been saying about Trump for some time, that he makes up facts to suit himself and then conveniently believes them. It also confirms that Trump is clueless about what the Nunes memo actually says and what it means.
Trump said yesterday about the memo, “I think it’s a disgrace. A lot of people should be ashamed of themselves.” He’s quite correct in that assessment. Nunes’ effort to discredit the FBI, the DOJ, and put national security at risk is indeed a disgrace and the people who should be ashamed of themselves are legion, and they are the members of the Republican party, of which he is the proud standard bearer.
Trump clearly thought that the Nunes memo would somehow exonerate him and shut down the Trump-Russia investigation and that’s all he cares about. The fact that all it really does is mischaracterize highly sensitive classified information out of context is beyond him.
Trump probably stands in his bedroom every night wearing a pair of ruby slippers that Sean Haninity gave him, intoning, “I’m not under investigation, I’m not under investigation,” as he clicks his heels together three times. He believes that if he says it enough, he will be magically transported from a world in which he doesn’t belong to a place of comfort and safety.
It’s not happening that way, Donald. You’re not going home, you’re going to prison. The Nunes memo was a distraction and a sham and the American disgrace you refer to lives in your mirror.
