Family visit to Seattle next weekend. I won’t be available. Could somebody substitute for me?
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This is interesting, but I doubt it happened. For one thing, Plutarch was Roman. And remains of any long-term Greek colonization would have been noticed by now — the way they built was too different from what’s actually here. On the other hand, I certainly think the occasional trading jaunt was possible — Roman ships have been found wrecked off Brazil.
Bombardier beetles. Fun facts.
And the reason the descendant thinks he looks like Cheddar Man is that he does.
I think Bermuda just shot their tourist industry in the foot.
I wouldn’t go as far as “adorable”, but definitely cute.

This week has been paperwork to get my insurance up to speed for April, Tamora Pierce’s newest, back and forth to school for my grandson (he wants to join the chess club), and getting bills and a big chunk of my NN18 trip paid (since my federal refund hit the bank). Also, just a bit of celebrating — I’m feeling a tad giddy over this. The one thing I haven’t done yet is buy the train ticket to Seattle (I’m going to go stay with my parents for a couple of days before going to New Orleans — there are no non-stop flights out of Portland). I plan to settle the scheduling of that with my mother while all of us are in Seattle next weekend.
One of my brothers and his wife will be at Mom’s place while we’re there — my daughter is thrilled, and the kids are interested. Me, I’ll deal. My sister-in-law is a retired physical therapist and, for all her virtues, has never managed to leave the drill-instructor mode at work. Ah well — I never knew this brother’s first wife very well, but she seemed very self-absorbed and was, in public, sweet enough to make my teeth hurt. I’ll deal with the one he’s got now.
