A right wing evangelical Indiana minister, Paul Begley, is pushing the story that Melania ordered a full scale exorcism at the White House and that’s why she didn’t move in for five months, because the place was possessed by demons. Really. Plus, Trump purportedly sees the need for evangelical incantations in the White House to drive out the bogeyman as well, because he’s brought any number of televangelists and pastors in for prayer and tea. Right Wing Watch:
“When the president allowed 40 pastors to come in to the White House and anoint him with oil and lay their hands and pray on him—seven times he’s done this—that is unheard of,” [Indiana pastor Paul] Begley said. “At least he is humble enough and recognizing that he needs God enough that he keeps bringing them in for the prayer. And I’ve got to say this, it might have started with the first lady.”
“The first lady, in that five hours when the Obamas and the Trumps went down to the Capitol and Trump was being sworn in as the 45th president of the United States,” Begley claimed, “Melania Trump said to her husband, ‘I’m not going to go into that White House unless it has been completely exorcised.'”
Claiming that when the Obamas lived there, the White House was filled with “all kinds of idol gods and images and all kinds of artifacts in there that were demonic,” Begley claimed that “Melania said, ‘You’ve got to get all of that out of there and send in some preachers and priests to go in and cleanse the White House or I will not spend one night in it.'”
And it’s not just Obama. Bill and Hillary Clinton were said to have voodoo icons and various demonic and idolatrous objects left over from their honeymoon in Haiti. Melania summarily demanded that those be eradicated as well, before she would put a stilletoed toe over the threshold. Patreos:
They actually honeymooned in Haiti. They witnessed a ritual performed by a Voodoo priest. And there were Haitian symbols, Haitian icons in the White House that the Clintons brought in there, bring ’em in there, just like little trinkets and tourist attractions and sort of objects… from their vacation…If you’ve got occultic or idolatrous objects in your house — might even be a painting — some kind of object — an amulet or whatever — that has occult significance, it provides a legal ground for demonic spirits. They will attach themselves to these objects. And then as long as that object is in the home, and you’re giving that object permission to be there by not removing it, those demons, then, have the legal right to be in your home...[emphasis theirs]
Well, we stand corrected. Who would have known demons have their own laws? Are they found in Code Books and do they have a Constitution as well? Are there specialists in Demonic Law registered with the bar associations of various states? Maybe Donald Trump talks to Screwtape and Wormwood and the boys after a hard day tweeting?
The Associated Press fact checked this. Melania’s spokeswoman said the exorcism reports were “not true in any way.” Bill and Hillary did spend their honeymoon in Haiti and Trump has had pastors and televangelists come to the White House to bless him.
Does it need to be pointed out that the conservative media are the biggest purveyors of fake news in the world, while accusing everyone else of exactly that?
