...the letter B. For bfitz. BfitzinAR. The heart and soul of the Community Links that she maintained and posted in our diaries. If there was a person with a need, they found their way to her. Some contacted her directly and others were referred to her through a third person. It didn’t matter how they got there and once they arrived, bfitz took care of them. The needs list was as much a part of The Village as were the political and resistance links. Even though she is gone, she is not forgotten. We recognize her heart and remember her spirit with each posting we do.
I became acquainted with Jan when I joined DK in 2016. Like most of the VUTB group, she was a regular contributor. Unfortunately, life has a way of throwing a person a curve ball from time to time and circumstances changed in early 2017. She lost a significant chunk of income (which formerly covered the house payment) when a family estate she was managing came to a close, sooner than expected. She continued on, using her savings and resources, but has exhausted that. Basically, as awful as it sounds, she has outlived her money.
Since then, Jan has been trying to develop another income stream through her Patreon page. It's afloat, but is taking longer than expected. Still, the payouts have reduced the amount needed each month to cover the house payment, which is a good thing, and the rest has been filled in by donations through the Community Links postings.
Unfortunately for Jan, the first part of 2018 has been full of setbacks and bad luck. She has been hit by extra expenses (most recently her furnace went out for a week during the coldest time of the winter) that have required her borrowing money or maxing out her emergency credit card. Although it’s fixed now, it was followed up with a nasty cold which put her behind in her work schedule of filling orders and creating new products to sell and gain income.
Without any reserves to cover it and the deadline approaching, she is really in a crunch. I know that any help at all would be most appreciated.
