Last Friday Lissa Lucas, a Democratic candidate for the state House of Delegates, was forcibly removed from a House hearing. Her crime was reading the list of campaign contributors to the Republican members. The story went viral and was picked up by the Huffington Post, New York TImes, and many other outlets. It was blogged on DK here and here.
Monday night I was at a campaign event for Danielle Walker, another amazing progressive female WV House of Delegates candidate (more on her later). Someone mentioned that Lissa’s ActBlue account had blown up. I started watching it and saw she was adding hundreds of donors every day. On Monday she had about $37K and now she has $56K.
To put this into perspective, the incumbent raised $6650 to win the seat in 2016.
By the way, it is worth reading what she has to say about her opponent’s fundraising event. The list of sponsors is almost comically evil.
The Charleston Gazette has a story on her fundraising haul.
Thanks to everyone who donated!
