She got the name in a diary poll so many years ago. She was well-known and well-regarded here, probably better than I.
I thought people here might want to know: we had to say goodbye to her today. It was unexpected and abrupt. We’d hoped whatever of the dozen medical maladies she suffered would end up going like that, but that turned out to be stupid, too.
She came into our yard clawless, yowling, three pounds wet 11 years ago. Had wake-up-screaming nightmares for the better part of a year.
From those terrifying beginnings, she grew to be a brave, smart, valiant and fair companion. If you have as good a friend, count your blessings.
