Wow. So CNN has really pumped up this Trump “Hearing Session” regarding school shootings. So it starts. Trump does the typical thing, begins with a prayer. Then asks Pence to say a couple of words. The first thing of course, Pence says, is “First off, thank you, Mr. President.” The goes on a completely asinine speech, considering the gun laws that he oversaw in Indiana are some of the loosest in the country.
Then, the first two students Trump brought up again first made sure to “Thank him” for everything he is doing. What exactly is he doing? What has he done? It seems clear that they carefully screened the people involved in this stupid forum…
I’ve never posted before this...But this just seems so completely staged that it is beyond the pale...If Trump really wanted to participate in a forum, go to the one CNN is hosting (and I’m not a giant CNN fan), where there’s a crowd of ten thousand people that might boo you at any minute (oh right, the Trumpster will only attend events with crowds that only applaud him and chant stupid shit like “Lock Her Up!”)…
And the whole, oh, let’s just raise the age for buying an AR-15 to 21 years old (which a lot of conservatives are arguing for today)...Oh, sure, that’ll do it...They’re just aiming low so that there is absolutely no conversation about banning these weapons…All we need to do is raise the age and there won’t be any more mass shootings...
I’ll post again later if somehow this stupid Trump forum actually amounts to something...But right now it’s just another bullshit photo op from the Trump Administration…
Thanks,
E

I wish someone would ask him if the stories are true that Donald Trump Jr. told him not to waver at all, and to not do anything regarding gun control. “Is that what your son really says?” “Do you support your son’s position?” “What schools did your son go to?” “Has there ever been a mass shooting at his school, or did his schools have security?”

What if there is crossfire? What if an armed teacher accidentally ends up shooting some innocent students? What if the police show up and end up shooting a teacher thinking that they are the “active shooter”? Do those questions matter?

It seems pretty clear that this is just meant to distract from tonight’s CNN Town Hall. I can’t wait til Rubio has to actually confront some of the most vocal students from the school as opposed to Trump’s carefully screened panel...I’m sure Rubio won’t cave on anything...He’ll argue mental health, mental health, mental health...Then blame the FBI...etc...The saga continues...

“We’re not equipped like we were years ago.” You’re the asshole that issued a signing statement rescinding the Obama era restrictions on people with mental health issues being able to purchase guns. What the hell is wrong with you? Trump needs to STFU.

Look how more articulate and nuanced the three girls are that are being interviewed by CNN as soon as the Trump photo-op ended. Those are the kind of points that should’ve been brought up during Trump’s bullshit “hearing session”...

HELLO CNN??? It was a photo-op. Nothing more. He did not “get an earful.” The crowd was carefully screened. He didn’t have to answer any hard questions. Start doing some actual reporting. Stop acting like if Trump sits still for an hour or so and doesn’t send out any crazy tweets that that makes him presidential. He’s not. Start reporting. I’m talking to you, Wolf Blitzer...

Dana Bash. This “Hearing Session” was not “extraordinary.” You need to become an actual reporter. Think about the opinions that were expressed at this “event.” The vast majority were either “mental health needs to be dealt with” or “teachers need to carry firearms.” How many questions were actually about gun control? How many questions were about whether or not to ban guns like AR-15s?
