Here we go again. Another high-profile mass shooting, and once again fake news peddlers are claiming the survivors aren’t real survivors, but “crisis actors” intended to stir the pot for gun control.
Well, I’VE HAD IT! Unless I’m very wrong, there’s a very good way to shut down this nonsense—suing the likes of Alex Jones and Jim Hoft for libel.
Think about it, guys. By claiming that the brave kids from Stoneman Douglas High aren’t real survivors, InfoWars, Gateway Pundit, and their kindred fake news peddlers are opening them up for vicious harassment and trolling—in the process, victimizing them all over again.
On the face of it, the mere threat of a libel suit would be enough to shut these bastards down. And if they don’t take the hint, the kids and their families could really draw blood if they go to court—maybe even drive them out of business. After all, these kids can easily prove negligence. If they share how they have been harassed and trolled as a result of being smeared like this, the only question will be how big the damages will be.
The really sickening part is that some of these bottom-feeders rose to fame by peddling truther nonsense about Sandy Hook. And yet, the families really couldn’t sue because it wouldn’t have been worth putting kids that young through the trauma of a lawsuit with bottom-feeders like Jones as defendants.
A lot of people think this shooting is a tipping point in the gun debate. Could it be a tipping point in the battle against fake news as well? Hopefully someone can use it to take these truthers to court.
